Who should be the spokesperson for a company when there’s a crisis?
It depends on the nature of the crisis and the immediate availability of the top people. Often CEOs and presidents are busy responding to a major crisis and it may not be appropriate for them to do initial press briefings. However, their ability to respond in the early stages of the crisis is a sign of commitment to resolving the problem. Again, planning is the key. Any well thought out crisis communication plan can resolve some of those questions long before a situation arises
